See. We told you lawns are just bad news.

From Monday’s Buffalo News:

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies have charged
a 58-year-old Irving man with drunken driving—on a lawn mower.

Deputies dispatched early today to an Irving residence to remove an
intoxicated man from the home spotted the man riding his lawn mower
away from the scene and stopped him shortly after 1 a.m. today.

They charged Merwin C. Pierce Jr. with felony driving while intoxicated
and aggravated unlicensed operation, among other charges. Sheriff’s officials
said the felony charge was lodged because of a previous DWI conviction.

This charge should have been called MWI. I’m not relinquishing GWI.

  1. Well, at least he’s off the streets, er, grass.

On a trip from GA to MD, we saw a man on a riding mower, minus the mowing deck, with a beer in one hand and a push mower tied to the back of the riding mower (facing backward), cutting the grass in front of his trailer. If I’d only had a camera . . . .

  2. Hey, lawns aren’t the bad news here, at least in this story, It’s drinking and mowing that’s the bad news. Bad combo indeed, although I hear a cold beer is just the thing to cool you down after mowing the lawn.
