Bored with perfect magazine gardens.

In love with real, rambling, chaotic, dirty, bug-ridden gardens.

Suspicious of the “horticultural industry.”

Delighted by people with a passion for plants.

Appalled by chemical warfare in the garden.

Turned off by any activities that involve “landscaping” with “plant materials.”

Flabbergasted at the idea of a “no maintenance garden.”

Gardening our asses off.

Having a hell of a lot of fun.

Hey, Dave Connell - editor of the American Society of Landscape Architects website - thanks for recommending us to your readers, and back at ya. I couldn't help giving you a poke about the spirited discussions we've been having lately about design. And yes, we'd love to hear from some of your members, not just as active readers but by having their very own say as guest bloggers. (What a resume-builder, huh?) They can just give me a shout.

I've been an avid reader of Landscape Architecture Magazine for years now - not because I'm such a precocious gardener that I actually subscribe, but because I attend regular meetings of an agency that carries it. And it's been there, at the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, that I've heard some amazing presentations by and discussions with the likes of Peter Walker, Laurie Olin, Jim Van Sweden, Kathryn Gustafson, Michael Van Valkenburgh, Diana Balmori (who actually sits on the Commission), and lots more, but you get the idea. It's no wonder I think LAs are pretty cool.
