Listed below are links to weblogs that reference A fool and his remedies are soon debunked:

Comments

Could another of the debunked be John Perez, featured in my 9/19 post "As Seen on TV"? Funny thing; someone recently read that post and wrote a comment on it seeking advice from the very same quack. What's all our ranting for, anyway??

Thanks for the link to that book. That's one I will start carrying to my meetings with community gardeners. They're always looking for a magic bullet.

I think most sensible gardeners (heck, people) have learned the old maxim, 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.'

I wonder why Gillman feels he has any more license to name names here than in print. If his assertions are well documented (and most land-grant university scientists I know don't go way out on any limbs without data to back them up), then he should have named names in print. If his claims aren't backed up, he shouldn't name names here.

In the bigger blogosphere, there's a big integrity battle going on between print and blog. Blogs in my mind are winning on many issues. I suspect in this case we're winning here because Gillman has integrity but his hard-copy publisher didn't want to risk litigation.

Can't wait for Wednesday.
