Ranters in bloom

As far as I can tell, all of our gardens still look pretty terrific. (It's perfectly acceptable to brag on Bloom Day, right?)

I’m very jealous of Michele’s magnificent sweet autumn clematis; mine was smothered by the pond guy. Check out her trampoline! She has much more, including dahlias, sweetpeas (more jealousy), helenium, and phlox.

Susan has tons of stuff in bloom, including some beautiful flowering shrubs. This is caryopteris. (Actually I’ve seen this called both a shrub and a perennial.) Check out her blog for more.

Finally, I chose an overhead shot (I get great ones from my husband’s study) of my patio garden, because this looks much better than it usually does at this time of year. I know it’s hard to discern them, but there is rudbeckia hirta Herbstonne, hydrangea macrophylla “Forever Pink,” heliopsis, a few other perennials, and a bunch of annuals. Those are some wonderful blooms. I wish I had a way to get a bird's eye view of my garden, without resorting to climbing up on the roof.

I know what Bloomsday is but have never heard of Bloom Day. Who called it? Do you have a link for the ignorant among us?

Bloom Day was started by Carol of May Dreams Garden. It's got nothing to do with the Joyce event.
