If this doesn't stir feelings of wonder and vague sexual confusion, you're just not paying attention.

Spectacular. Vague sexual confusion? I don't know. But sexual SOMETHING.
The botanical name is:
Amorphophallus titanum
Greek amorphos (misshapen)
+ phallos ("penis")
"titan" is rather obvious.
This is the "huge misshapen penis flower."
And something else too.
Hmmmnn.
Thanks for putting this up. I'd like to see one in person, but I'm NOT anxious to smell one.

I felt some wonder at the volume of people passing by during the time-lapse. It's cool to see that much interest in a plant.
Henry Mitchell wrote about this plant long ago, and thanks to Amy I've now seen one. Wish Henry could have stuck around long enough for YouTube.

Although it's supposed to be pretty difficult to do, the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden managed to pollinate "Titania the Titan" and now she's fruiting.
