Hi hi hi ... I just congratulate myself! Thanks for posting.

You make it sound so easy Michele. Where is the drama in that? Drama sells. These are dramatic times. Shouldn't it be more like,"If I have to dig, hoe, steal seeds or kill bugs. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."

I wish I were more Scarlett-like, Christopher! But I could never pull it off.

" Get out of nature's way " Love it!

Great post! And of course I loved Christopher's comment as well. Thank God I grow veggies for joy, not sustenance, or we'd be going hungry here all the time!

Great post, but I would add for beginners, start small - it's easy to see all these fabulous gardens and think that big is better. Big may be better, but only if you have the time, energy and water to tend it.

Thanks for the reminder about the parsnips! I vowed to try them this year after reading Michele's post about them last fall.

All wonderful advice! I'm sure I will reread this post a few times a year as a reminder, of what and what not to do!

typepad sucks.

Wordpress for the win.

But I just hired a landscape architect to design my radish garden.

the TROLL

I love this post - makes gardening into a combination of fun and art. Happy gardening.

Here is a great video from seed activist Vandana Shiva on
why the backyard gardener is the hero in the struggle to save
the environment.

What is fatuous? Fat farts blowing their wind. I hate it when I toot around anybody. Brassicas are gassy.
Gardening is hard without fun or beauty or eating fresh.

Thank you for this! I've been intimidated for years, but this year I'm finally giving it a try.

this is great. i've gardened for 40 years and have heard way too many discussions of the RIGHT way to do something in the garden. if you're a rigid person you can grow veges and if you a total flexible you can grow veges. just find what what works for you and enjoy. what could be more fun than that.

Where can I rant about a mail order plant supplier with reprehensible business practices?
