DC Gardens on the Day of the Rally

Now for my report on the Rally to Restore Sanity, you'll have to go to my own blog, where I go off-topic at will.  But I'd always rather look at plants than mobs of people anyway, and here are my favorites from my visit to the Mall with a quarter million other sanity-lovers.

Right, a glorious display of perennial mums with salvia and a nice hemlock in the Bartholdi Garden, against the backdrop of the Rayburn House Office Building.  Below, a close-up of the same border.

Below, asters in the National Garden, with the Museum of the American Indian in the background.

Below, cannas, oakleaf hydrangeas among other plants I can't name, with the U.S. Botanic Garden in the background.
